i kept thinking about this every time i encountered a submarine movie and i went and found it. i'm trying to imagine my sister at 20 years old watching a 3+ hour long movie about the russian revolution and saying "that was great, definitely one of my favorite movies."

found a better process for this. i drilled a hole in the middle of a hefty piece of acrylic (maybe 1/4") to cover the dough mixing bowl. the hole is covered with the vac's external hose attachment (mine looks like this) and i pull the vacuum. more space the dough to expand, less mess/cleanup.

this taxi ("of human bondage", 1934) appears to have cane woven cladding on it. wood or carbon fiber are common enough, but imagine panels made from other trends in materials/handicrafts. macrame. tatting. cross stitch. decoupage. encaustics. ceramic. stained glass. endless possibilities.

got some crumpet rings so i could make perfectly uniform, cylindrical english muffins. figuring out a process to bake them in the oven to make it less of a hands-on production.

belt-mounted coin dispensers are not just for people selling things. customers can wear them too, and merchants appreciate how quickly you are able to make exact change.

saw this flip clock in a tv show. it was in a child's bedroom. honestly! do you expect me to believe that you'd give a child a copal 707? what need has a child for the premium features like the day/date functionality? ridiculous.

the silver lining to the lengthy phone call with the it helpdesk is my loaves spent more time rising. used a stainless milk frothing pitcher for steam this time, worked pretty well.

the flour soaks up the water so thoroughly that you have to adjust (increase) the amount of water. this was 80-85% hydration, but was still easy to slide off the peel.
i found a guy on pizzamaking who was doing it in 2023, and a bunch of references to it in commercial bakery machines.
