Actually, the 5th may be okay too. The 4th or 5th was the last one prior to Stephen King getting hit by the van. The final books seemed rushed and are heavily self-referential. I just didn't like them as much.

It takes a bit to get rolling but the 1st four books are so good once you understand the world the characters are in.
