Oh my friend group and I are definitely not neurotypical and we do this lol. For me, I like taking a “pre-built” OC (e.g. one I’ve lovingly named and developed) and putting them in different circumstances to see how they would react

I would use OC for characters in my own escape-to story world, even if I don’t write it down. They’re not me or extensions of me, but someone else might develop their OC differently

OC is just a character you developed yourself, broadly. I’d consider it an umbrella term

I’ll try to make a comparison:

Bilbo and Frodo are Tolkien’s OCs. If he drew one of them, he’d be drawing his own OC. They just happen to be extremely famous examples.
