Now obviously, Jokic doesn't have a Kobe Bryant. But something I've wondered about Jokic...for as great as he is (and I think he might be the single greatest offensive player ever) it's interesting that he doesn't seem to have the same ceiling-raising capabilities as his historical peers.

This exactly. It's the connective tissue of all of his shows.

it is truly a high level social negotiation of empathy and observation which is why his sort can't grasp it beyond "say mean thing about person!"

Being vulgar isn’t the goal of roasting. EARNING CAMARADERIE IS THE POINT. You display the empathy to accurately asses others’ vulnerabilities, the craft to make fun at them without destroying underlying respect for their humanity, and you earn satisfaction of earning their esteem.

When their identity is tied up in their rage, are we certain that they actually WANT their goals to become reality?

I'm not going to make too much of a declarative statement after just a couple of listens. But one thing I'm willing to say is that this album SOUNDS incredible. The production is fantastic.
