Your reminder that the origin story for Father Christmas is Saint Nicholas who, coming from a wealthy family, would put put gold coins through the windows of poor families' homes as dowries for unmarried women. St. Nicholas, from the school of Basil the Great, believed being wealthy was sinful.

Saw Terminator Live last night at the Hammersmith Apollo - the 'band' was full of metallic percussionists and some synths. Easy to forget how 'industrial' the original soundtrack was, but live, it's amazing how evocative & emotional it is. Recommended!

I live on a main road, and a (albeit belated) Oktoberfest celebration at my bar seems like as good a reason as any to put up the bunting that I know will piss off the local flagshaggers
