I'd say 4 players is ideal for online but can lead to more cancellations. I have 6 in one group and 5 in another and aim to run with a minimum of 3, but sometimes that just doesn't work out either.

Makes perfect sense to me!

Same here. I did use the Magic-User and Cleric spell systems which were ok. The Magic User system only makes a difference with an Int bonus, and the Cleric system can make a cleric a bit more powerful. I probably wouldn't use them again.

This is a really interesting approach, but I'd probably cancel if I was down to one player.

Definitely agree with keeping the game going, I'm reluctant to cancel.

We need a passionate RPGer with a load of £££ to restart Games of Liverpool...

I'm a bit out of touch with local RPG shops, but I don't think Liverpool is well served.

I'm on my third read through of the campaign book, it's a great reference, but reading it front to back (maybe not every one of the 200 hex pages) immerses you in the setting. I've been running it for over a year and am getting more ideas to bring into the game from it.

With you on this. How wealthy do you have to be to have paid millions in tax...

I had a copy of this, it was fun enough but didn't compare to Fighting Fantasy or Lone Wolf.

That's where I'm heading, I'm really not worried about narrative justifications for an absence.

It'd trickier with a smaller group for sure

Or if they were a redshirt, they were called in to support the captain and were wasted on an alien world. Dead in the STA world and the 5e world...

Are you sure? It really should be 😅

It's the halfway through something that causes and issue for me and happens far too frequently. Managing PCs is way too much hard work for me though... if another player doesn't take over them, I'd drop them for the session even if it made no sense as to how that would happen.
November 25, 2025 at 10:32 PM
I'd be happy with that, feels like a good compromise. I can be flexible with the fictional reason for them not being there, even to the point of handwaving it on occassion.
November 25, 2025 at 10:29 PM
I dream of being able to not end sessions mid scene...
November 25, 2025 at 10:27 PM
One shots are hard work though...

True, credit where it's due 😅

Thanks Mike. Now I'd be disappointed if Upton Snodsbury wasn't mentioned in the appendices...

Looks cool, I don't remember it but will be checking it out.

You can just drop in, but I did let them know on the Discord. They're only open to the public 10-2 Monday to Friday.

😂 you're really raising the bar here in custom TPKs
