Years ago I met a similarly ridiculous Uber exec who said his business was “a packet-switched network for atoms”, which translates from Techbro to English as “it moves stuff around”.

I went to an NUS conference once about 20 years ago. While it’s also true that it was toxic, pointless and ridiculous, my overwhelming impression was how incredibly thick almost everyone involved was. Just the worst people.

The Spanish colonisation of South America was properly ISIS-like in its pillage and enslavement. I think the difference is that it was longer ago.
