I lived in Cambridge from '98 to '03 and the few people I knew who biked back then were taking their lives in their hands. It's *worlds* different now, and massively better.

I wish I'd thought to point out to the DoT folks in the room that for the people complaining about bike lanes, it's not really about bike lanes, the loons don't even want sidewalks.

It should be possible to leave your house on your feet and go anywhere in a city. This is a bare freaking minimum.
