Whatever else happens, I really hope everyone remembers that J.D Vance, and an aging fascist, killed the transatlantic alliance & switched sides in the middle of a war. None of this, he spoke for the forgotten America BS, his eulogy needs to evoke disdain the way Quisling’s does.

I just watched the post-ambush fox interview with President Zelenskyy and my impression of, and respect for, the man just continues to grow. Getting tough questions translated live, and then responding with grace, clarity, and sincerity. World leaders should aspire to this.

Why do books not count some ‘real’* pages?

(*obvs not publication information, review pulls or whatever, but pages where the author has written something - e.g., an intro)

I get the joy of reading for readings sake, but I don’t want to read 10 pages, only to start the book proper on page ‘1’!!

So … turns out it isn’t a deterrent to the most vulnerable & desperate people (surprise surprise)

And it *is* cruel, ineffective and callous.

This ‘a club shouldn’t rely on FA Cup replays for financial stability’ is *not* a good argument.

I’ve just found out Sunak supports my football team. I appreciate that of all the issues one can have with their football team associations, this isn’t the worst. But also, it is.

When you (politicians & media) “both sides” things, do you realise that you’re enabling the far-right on 2 counts - by minimising their actions, and by providing a narrative to the uninformed that justified their actions?
The left (largely) condemns the extreme actions, the right celebrate them.

Good luck Poland. Hope the exit poll indications hold, and an effective coalition can be agreed (obviously neither are a given but I feel the alternative has been flirted with too much the past 8 years). Show us how it’s done.
