One thing I really like about the reprints is the fine-tuning of double-column cards. On the left is the original Dal Maxvill, on the right, the reprint. Maxvill hit 5 doubles, 2 triples, for 89 total bases. Using the original cards, he would double his extra base hits. He has 2 2B, 2 3B so far.

Why couldn’t the Amazin’s repeat in 1970, you ask? Their offense was better, but their pitching declined almost across the whole staff. 1969 cards on the left, 1970 on the right:

I’m confused. Dave Hilton is one of my favorites because he looked like me in the 1970s. But he never played for the Jays. Not a coach for them in 1977. Something I’m missing?
