Born with a lifelong hidden health issue, he lived longer than he would ever have without love and care

I miss him and his hugs and his companionship at the computer

Today I found this pic of him

So today I could finally leave X goodbye

I miss you boy

But I'm glad to have your memories here

Some insight to what Canada is when boiled down to its essential syrup and laid on the snow
people always stereotype Canadians as being polite, and its not true at all. We are passive-agressive weirdos who live in isolated weird places and the sooner we make peace with that the better

Still miss you Dad 😔
A colonoscopy is not that bad! Ignore any comments that say otherwise!

If you told 6 year old me I'd be sitting here in Toronto in a local library surrounded by new condos trying to remember dairy product nomenclature from those days 55 years ago

I'd probably have nodded my head saying "Of course you would want to remember that!"

Was a nerd before that word existed
Maybe but on second thought my remembrances of 1970's dairy products might be more faulty here

I would not be surprised if the term half and half was introduced when the local dairies got mostly bought out by American conglomerates like Beatrice & Sealtest only to be brought back into Canada later

Yeh...this is why I like to read @mlsist.bsky.social

Yeh, he does the "ooh, isn't this bit of soccer history kinda cool" thing like nobody else

Then he drops this sort of bomb aimed square at one of the powerbrokers
NEW: Ernst Tanner has built a powerhouse at the Philadelphia Union.

But my @us.theguardian.com investigation has shown wide-ranging allegations of misbehavior throughout his 7-year tenure.

Tanner denies the allegations, and was investigated by MLS this year.

MLS executive who built a powerhouse faced allegations of sexist, racist and homophobic behavior
Philadelphia Union sporting director Ernst Tanner denies the allegations, which prompted a recently-concluded MLS investigation that could not corroborate them

Today I went up the second highest hill in Toronto on an e-bike

Yes, it was assisted

Yes, it was a small effort ultimately

But...it felt good to be able to do something

Threw the football around for a bit this morning with a guy who sleeps in a parkette I was walking past
Felt like old times with my Dad and kid

He was happy to throw it around & thanked me for stopping with him cause most "think we got the bubonic plague"

My wife, who is definitely not old*, has a cool cosmic forest green one of these we picked up earlier this year

* nobody in our family can call themselves old until they hit 90 - my Mom got there a couple of years ago but still does exercise classes three times a week 🙂
There it is! my old age has officially arrived 🥹

Corporate HR department skill issues - Lesson #746

Training your hiring manager partners to lighten up
Frankly, a lot of developers do not have the skillset to interview! There are a lot who expect very rigid performances when you want interviewers who are able to be very adaptable.

This is my neighbourhood - my building is in the picture

I walk through it
I bike through it
I enjoy life in it
Is it perfect? No
Could it do with more density? Yes
But its transit friendly, walkable, now bikeable and has lots to offer and I'm glad I live in it

Hint to Ontarians upon hearing an Amber alert,

If your response is to type on social media "This might make me sound cold-hearted but "

Stop right there because - yeh - telling the world you are a cold hearted malignancy is not a good idea

This distinction can really disrupt a tailored outfit. On the left, we see how low rise, tapered trousers exacerbate the worst of this look (orphaned suit jacket with jeans, which looks like a sartorial mullet). The outfit on the right is even worse, as the man looks like Gru.

So happy millennials are doing this about phones
&
The criticism of generational behaviour tends to develop when we observe the second generation under us

I have distinct memories of when the book Gen X came out and Silent Gens (not boomers) started freaking out about "the death of etiquette"
i am glad that millennials were exposed to enough lazy, decroded "millennials are killing the X industry" articles a decade ago that by and large our response to people doing the same to gen Z is "so what. mind your business"
I have learned that Gen Z expects the person calling to say "hello" first, instead of the person answering; upending a century of phone norms. You know what? fine, I say. Phone calls aren't what they used to be anyway www.businessinsider.com/gen-z-phone-...

Random HR thought
I often see this picture jokingly discussing imposter syndrome & I usually flip that a bit & change who the hero is

So, my take

From the perspective of the other guys in the shot

"I hope one day I'll be able to tell him I also cried when Snuffulupagus finally appeared to people"
Me rolling up to the event to talk marketing/reframing alongside transport professionals, academics and gov't officials.
