I've been stretching my mouth to let those big words come right out
Someone once called him President Livia Soprano and holy fuck it’s the perfect description

And they have to be completely serious about it like Eddie was.

They understand that if you keep getting your shitty arguments obliterated people will stop listening to your shitty arguments

They’re not interested in honest “debate”. It’s a strategy to muddy the waters, avoid taking an irrefutable L.

Nothing bothers people more than things being just fine

For a second I thought you meant somebody had polled approval numbers for foods

I do think in his mind he sees this as the "kickoff" to the midterms

It works because it doesn’t require people to rethink anything they previously thought.

Why they previously thought those things is another story.

That’s the dividing line of everything, what you’re allowed to feel without irrefutable hard evidence vs. what you’re not allowed to feel without irrefutable hard evidence.

Their mentality is if they admit the Dems are right about anything, then there is no reason for anyone to vote for them. They have to be against whatever they're for, non-negotiable.

I think they came to the conclusion that having values didn’t help them get what they really wanted (total power) and just said fuck it. The extent that embrace of Trump came hand in hand with “I hate losing more than anything else in the world” being their default mode can’t be understated.

The primary problem isn’t that Trump doesn’t have “the emperor has no clothes” moments, he has them all the time. It’s that there’s a vast propaganda network working at all times to cover for him and paper over every bad exposure he has. And it’s so well-funded and fanatical that it works.

Force every single Republican running for office to fully embrace or fully repudiate, with no middle ground.

His numbers are bad now, but Republican support actually hasn’t eroded all that much; indie support soured far more proportionately.
December 15, 2025 at 5:13 PM
Oh it’s not good, it’s too preachy/corny to be a good watch, but damn if it doesn’t lay it all out.

Fun fact I just learned Wikipediaing it: Tommy Lee Jones plays the same guy Barry Pepper played in We Were Soldiers

During the first season of the Blowback podcast they had been lamenting that no film about Iraq had come out that had touched on any the myriad of events they had been making their show about, but Reiner's Shock and Awe hit every bullet point they did, just done to be palatable for normies.

Guys with Silver's specific politics and worldview absolutely despise people with Richardson's specific politics and worldview more than they do anyone else in the world.
