The first Shenmue game takes place in 1986, in Yokozuka, Japan. If you beat the game once, you'll have the option to use "actual weather" from 1986-87. This will cause the weather conditions in Shenmue to precisely mirror the historical weather conditions of Yokosuka, down to the hour.

If you're looking for something a little more trashy and heavier with video game music I'd *super* recommend Knight of the Round. They're FF focused so not Metroid related but they kick ass.

They're more prog, but for the combo of Metroid and metal the absolute goats are still the aptly named Metroid Metal. This has stuck with me for years and years, probably lands as my favourite VGM album.
