My only changes are I use butter-flavored crisco for shortening (because that's what mom kept in the house) , and I add a big pinch of nutmeg and a smaller one of cloves to my rolling sugar.

And we seem to be very good at teaching and learning as an informal collective. Probably because we had to self-learn, then teach, from an early age, since we were expected to learn everything new for our parents, then teach the helpless dipshits, or just do it for them forever.

It definitely is. I watched a lot of millennial trends develop in the mid/late 00s and early 10s, and it was funny how we all sorta simultaneously got into a lot of adult minutae, like wet shaving, because our parents taught us jack shit.
