The clothing color choices are what we find in inventories, however. Red is v. common as it is a very "healthy" color for general wear. Black is not very common as a color as it is difficult to get a true black with the available dyes, & the green being held by the main figure is called "Gooseturd"

I'm not an expert, but based on my expert friend's discussions, a really brilliant blue was difficult to make as a paint and was quite expensive. The blues in the image are probably either using LESS of the very $ stuff or a cheaper and less brilliant pigment.

Part of it is that winter can VERY easily kill you. There's a level of "hey, you need help? I help you" that does not get breached unless you are a specifically bad person. This happens in other very winter states too (I've gotten shoveled out in at least 3 states over 20+ years).

I mean, get used to the cold and spend time acquiring gear that keeps you warm because the air hurts to breathe and you too can be a Minnesotan like human. They're a welcoming people. Just not an effusive one because the air hurts.
