Press reporting about the economy et al has been generally uncoupled from the reality of it ever since we changed government. They spent most of the previous month trying to engineer Reeves' firing simply because their predictions of doom and gloom turned out to be embarrassingly shrill bleating.

For me it's the original Star Wars and whatever 1950s/60s WW2 movies they put on to fill the schedule. Gimme a Christmas line-up of Where Eagles Dare, Kelly's Heroes and Von Ryan's Express and I'll be full of Christmas cheer.

One thing it does clearly show is that whenever you hear them talking about a "strong executive branch", they're *absolutely* talking about wanting a ethno-fascist dictatorship akin to the Third Reich. It's barely even code at this point.
