Places and facts. Mad about maps and the lines that connect and divide.
Fascinated by the riddle of electoral system change.

Suggestion 133374747 for the post-Trump era: actual Art 1 courts for administrative adjudication.

Yep exactly (the presidential vote is also the party vote of a German/Kiwi legislative election, the basic motivation is to tie the president as closely to the lege as possible) based on my cynical belief both that parliaments are superior and that Americans wouldn't go for them lol

My parliamentarism for people who hate parliamentarism solution is this plus the 1980s Bolivian presidential election. If no one gets a majority, top three go to a congressional vote (should ensure that the pres has legislative confidence) also it's funny to suggest constitutional recs from Bolivia

The Ecuadorians added this to avoid the kind of situation Peru has been dealing with for the past decade or so (to be clear the Ecuadorian constitutional change happened before this) bit it's easy to say the incumbent presidents are screwing up, hard to come up with a solution once you toss them

Same, drums in the deep, they are coming

Ah, a chance to talk about muerte cruzada.
In Ecuador the congress can remove the president or the president can dissolve congress but if they do so, they trigger a special election for themselves as well.
It allows the public to weigh in, if they find your reasons unpersuasive you won't be return

I think the refusal of SCOTUS to read the "Republican Form of Government" clause more broadly was a travesty throughout the Jim Crow period (see President's Rule in India as a counterexample) but I'm pretty happy that the White House doesn't tell Kathy Hochul what to do.

It's already a bistate institution, instead of dissolving it, merge NJT and MTA with it.

They are, that's the problem with being convinced that you're already fully sanctified

The misidentification of the Sabbath is not the most Biblically ignorant point being made but it does reinforce how little she really understands the Word.

Those are just his lower teeth
December 7, 2025 at 6:54 PM
That'd only need a statutory change. I'm pretty sure there's a bill in Congress right now.

Not sure why you left off list making, another key element of the passage you quoted in your screenshot.

I'm hearing there has in fact been fighting in the War Room

Thank you so much for this balanced perspective. I fear we're going to end up rewriting the Constitution to say "Donald Trump is a terrible person and president" which is true but not necessarily relevant after him. It's the Third Amendment problem.
December 3, 2025 at 5:12 PM
I'm still not convinced on the pardons issue (America does not have an underprosecution problem outside the president and his cronies) but I'd gladly accept those changes in exchange for an open and amendable constitution. @constitutionctr.bsky.social has suggested amending the amendment process.

I spent a few years in South Korea and the Korean historical resentment toward Japan is entirely justified. Even so, I can't bring myself to care about Dokdo, or whatever the Japanese call it.
Just do what the Canadians and Danes do and exchange soju for sake and call it even.

Well actually *is crushed by falling anvil* *continues through death rattle* Pike companies often included at least some billmen, in roles like guarding flanks.

To the extent that the Red Wedding storyline plays a role, it's a good example of how imitation so often misses the point of the original. In the story, the betrayal is loudly foreshadowed. As a reader/watcher I only miss the clues because of my assumptions about heroism and plot armor.
