One of the reasons that I moved to Nova Scotia in 1971 was that it reminded me of NC in youth — the fifties. People didn’t lock their doors, farm stands operated on the honor system. During our time in Halifax 84-87, there were no murders. Our kids walked home for lunch and took ukulele in school.
