Product Designer, dad, Philly sports teams, psychology + tech, just lost my train of thought…

Tries to be Superman, looks like Lex Luthor.
Many of my favorite writers at the Post left for other outlets: The Bulwark, MS Now (awful rebrand, but many good reporters), etc. Philadelphia Inquirer is not corporate or billionaire owned with concerns about politicians influencing their data mining or private space rocket businesses.

What challenges do you have to keep skills sharp and stay highly productive in the creative field?

My daughter started her Hanukkah scared to put out her mini LED menorah at school. A painful reminder that we must live cautiously, as we’re never safe. But also to not live fearfully. I’m reminded of symbolism of circles used during my wedding, a bride circling the groom, wearing rings, etc.

Just recently joined. Smartest thing I’ve ever seen any business executive ever say: why raise price on something that makes my customers well-fed so they shop longer and leave feeling like they got a deal. Staff keeps lines moving. It’s always busy even on an average weekday. Brilliant businessman.

Mark, have you ever experienced an employer-chosen private healthcare plan?

This is standard operating procedure.

@monteiro.bsky.social The last line of this NY Times piece about Ryan Coogler reminds me something…

Those helped me understand human behavior more and drove me towards a career in design and software design.

I was a solid science & math student, with skills in getting computers to run PC games I liked. I majored in Computer Science in collegr, but struggled to care about higher level math & physics courses. I found psychology and humanities classes like modern art & American history more interesting.

Nilay, your post is art. 🤣

The app is making you censor Michaelangelo’s art? It can’t be Catholics making these rules. Is it a dumb human system or a robot telling you what art is?

He needs to get the name of our generation’s greatest leader out of his mouth. He must be stopped…

But we can accept that Democrats nudged things forward in public sentiment as dissatisfaction with what most saw as a GOP problem + Trump’s failure to lead & negotiate. Builds momentum towards balanced gov’t w/ untainted, anti-corruption candidates going forward. Elliot Ness-like Untouchables.

McConnell is now seeing the impact of letting the least competent take charge again and being overly hands off on giving some people what they wanted, which was not convicting Trump, leading to RFK harming objectively effective, lifesaving vaccine programs. Ironic, given polio vax saved his own.

Mitch McConnell was effective at long-term strategic thinking. He never took up policy changes he thought there wasn’t a high probability of getting through. He would punt on tactical failures, like anti-abortion policy, that would fail nationally, in favor of long-term incremental wins.

And we have now progressed from data analysis to policy recommendations.

I told her that we'd calculate the cash value of her candy haul, that I'd ask her to raid her piggy bank and donate 1/3 the candy cash value to a local food bank, and that I'd add on a 5X match.
