It tells you everything you need to know that Reform are parachuting in a rent-an-extremist - this isn't about representing the people of Gorton and Denton, it's about using this place as a platform for their careers.

Manchester will show him the door.

@newstatesman1913.bsky.social Why is every single article on gender dysphoria written by someone who is ideologically aligned with the so called 'Gender Critical movement'?

@andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social this is what the @theguardian.com permissive attitude to ableist language leads to. This is grossly offensive to autistic people like myself.

@andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social why is ableist language permitted BTL in the @theguardian.com? "Moron" is an offensive and ableist term of abuse regardless of who it is aimed at. Yet it is allowed regardless of how many times it gets reported! www.ucu.org.uk/media/11589/...

@andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social Why are the IFS and Resolution Foundation seen as independent when both operate through the lens of orthodox anti-social (neo/classical liberal) economics? Sure they are not aligned with party's, they cling to household budget fallacy, oppose pro-social economics.

@rjpartington.bsky.social in your article on the reverse right to buy in Brighton, you use the terms social and affordable housing interchangeably when they are not the same, the latter defined in law as 80% market rent, the former (council or PRP owned) around 50%, politicians do this to obfuscate!

@andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social today its reported that the UC claiments have hot a record high, nowhere does the @theguardian.com mention the crucial fact that the increase is largley due to the DWP migrating legacy benefit claiments to UC. Pretty basic stuff!
August 12, 2025 at 10:52 AM
@theguardian.com in your reporting of the 'record' high numbers of UC claiments dont you think you should point out that the DWP is fast tracking legacy benefit claiments onto UC, hence the numbers on UC going up, and point out in the reduction in legacy benefit numbers.
