The defense ran a fairly bare bones, focused defense strategy. So not surprising it didn't come up before now. Like the defense closing argument said, there's a lot of holes in this case

Corruption requires explict quid pro quo. It is not corrupt to take an action that aligns with the interest of a person who gives you a gift, unless the official action was in direct response to that gift--a bribe. Terms matter. Accuracy and fairness matters. Regardless of what social media wants.

If Trump considers corporations part of the US government, then he might be talking about the 1976 oil field nationalizations, and the later Chavez seizures. It's wacky enough that he may actually use that excuse. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDVSA

My issue is the movies/show just aren't as good. Which may be partially why the books aren't as insanely popular

Apparently the director knew he understood very little about Catholics, but he wanted a degree of separation from his own protestant background and he wanted those rituals and beautiful church.
