Amari in the first stint tonight reminded me of Amari in his very early Maine games where he was indecisive, and a half step slow because of that. I hope he gets another chance in this one.

The Celtics have no green in their uniforms tonight and the Bulls have no red.

Some things about the current NBA are mildly perplexing.
January 25, 2026 at 1:37 AM
I wonder if the Celtics will play Amari Williams some real minutes between now and the deadline to gauge where he is.

IF Amari is ready, maybe they pivot to acquiring a stretch big, or a speedy, highly mobile leaping guy like Missi.

With 7.9 seconds left in the first OT, Williams put the Nets up by 5

Amari receives the ball on a full court inbound and instantly hits Pritchard for the 3, setting up the Hugo heroics after Traore missed a free throw

That was two incredible coaching moves, and executions by rookies within seconds

Maybe Amari can step up and be the extra center.

Spain and England with big plays that won the game for the Celtics.

Amari!

Nice sub Joe.

Tonight the Celtics play the Brooklyn Team-With-An-Extra-Center-To-Trade.

The top 6 teams in the NBA are the only ones to have winning records against opponents .500 and above.

OKC, Detroit, San Antonio, Denver, Houston, Boston.

The team with the best record against .500 and aboves? Detroit at 14-4.

The Celtics' leaders in three point percentage this season:

1. Garza .480
2. Minott .438
3. Walsh .435
4. Scheierman . 422
5. Simons .402
January 21, 2026 at 7:28 PM
Via Celtics Reddit... Zach Lowe on his show today: "All the rumblings around the league are that Boston is going to buy at the deadline." He said he had no idea for who.

I'd be surprised if the Celtics get past Feb 5 without acquiring another center.
January 21, 2026 at 12:32 AM
Great game last night. The two teams are good and they're closely matched. Maybe they'll meet again in the spring.

The Celtics have two obvious potential avenues to improve quite a bit for the playoffs. If Boston adds a big man and Tatum successfully returns, the chess board changes.

Queta +15.

Size is needed vs the Pistons.

Garza's three quick fouls underscore one of the reasons why the Celtics will look for an additional center at the deadline

It's been some time now since the NBA joined hands and began skipping down the lane with the gambling industry.

I'm not interested, I never will be, and I still mute all those annoying betting ads.
January 19, 2026 at 6:25 PM
The Celtics moved ahead of the Wolves last night, and are now 5th best in the NBA.

Despite the big win, they actually lost ground to Detroit in point differential, and are 3rd.

The way they're trending, it's possible that the Knicks and Lakers both dip down to play-in status in the standings.

Mike Conti

"The 52 points scored by Boston in the second quarter are the most allowed in any quarter by the Hawks. Ever."

Amari is gonna be a player. Hats off to the Celtics front office for that second round trade last draft.

They get this year's Bucks 2nd rounder from that deal.
January 18, 2026 at 2:30 AM
I just realized, the Celtics two-wayers are active tonight. With the huge lead, it could be Amari time in the 4th quarter.
January 18, 2026 at 2:03 AM
Celtics all time record for 3s in a game is 11 by Marcus Smart. Hauser's got 7 at the half.
January 18, 2026 at 1:52 AM
Is it a sure thing that having Zubac instead of Simons would significantly improve the Celtics?

I ask because the second question is... Is Zubac all that much better for this team than the rapidly improving Queta?

...and will he be better at all going forward?
January 18, 2026 at 1:37 AM
Indiana beat New Orleans, moving the Pacers ahead of the Pels, who now have the worst record in the NBA. This matters for the Celtics.

Boston owns New Orleans' 2nd round pick. That selection is currently at the top of the round, for the moment giving the C's the #31 pick in the 2026 draft.
January 17, 2026 at 2:25 AM
If Pritchard is out against the Hawks tomorrow night, who starts, Simons, Walsh, Hugo or Scheierman?
January 16, 2026 at 10:42 PM
Say the Celtics keep Simons, but do make a deal.

The other likely tradables are:
1) Hauser
2) one of the young non-Hugo wings (Minott or Scheierman, less so Walsh)
3) a bench guy like Boucher or Tillman

When Tatum comes back, minutes will be lessened. The Cs have extra wings.
