In any case, I somehow keep managing to annoy both the pro-NATO and the pro-Russia types, so: either I’m completely dumb, or maybe there’s some underlying consistency in finding both sides repulsive. Who knows mmmh

truth is the real issue is the shame attached to ignorance, for ignorance is considered a flaw. Then there is the shame of having to admit one’s past mistakes (the horror!). Both, ultimately, are plain refusals to change (which is itself regarded as a flaw: hypocrisy)

for me it was the "surprise" that they’re just as "sharp and deep" as the best of the westerners (so glad they got their mark of approval! Lucky them)
