Yes 😔 I'm so disappointed in his stance, & perhaps even moreso at the fact he felt the need to air it publicly! I'm still willing to read his work (much in the same way I'm still able to appreciate the art/loathe the artist when viewing Picasso), but I know I would not have purchased the book today.

I've had it on the shelf since 2024! Someone mentioned that the first line is captivating, so I opened it up yesterday, and...yes!

Enjoy!!!

Thanks for the encouragement. For a few minutes I caught myself listening to one WHILE reading the other, haha! Both of these books deserve a bit more savoring than that, but tbh I'm excited to just read/listen/read all weekend. What a sweet luxury!

I'm midway through the (wow, SO GOOD!!) audiobook of "White Tears," but last night I accidentally read the first few pages of "The Heart's Invisible Furies" which has triggered my (can't stop!) reading addiction and now I'm actively wondering how to read+listen to both at once...

What gives any indication that all of the other "217 votes" are still committed?! Color me skeptical.

Why would anyone want to prolong this hell-year?!

He did, and we don't.
Sadly.

Will he make the horse a senator? I mean, we're going full Caligula-crazy, aren't we?

My husband and I have purchased a copy every year since we met (in 1994). The cover design shift was admittedly tough on the bookshelf aesthetics, but other than that, it's been a perfect way celebrate every passing year.

Very excited to see your contribution to the shelf, Celeste. 🥰

No, of course not!

(In the sense that the letters won't be "gold", so much as "the cheapest metallic spray paint his sycophants can find")

Sigh...

I love these ages of discovery.
When my girl was 5, she "decided" she was from Greece, and really REALLY leaned into it.

(We are not the least bit Greek, but follow your bliss, I say...)

The symbolism is a little bit TOO literal for me, tbh

Thank you for posting this.
So alarming, what's happening at these once-upstanding Indiana institutions.

I had it! That was a fun promo; midnight premiere of an enjoyable if not memorable movie.
