It’s hard to believe SCOTUS intended to drown its docket in litigation over which specific acts of bribery are corrupt and which official. Then again, I never thought SCOTUS would wink at racial profiling and decline to intervene against the ad hoc dismantling of statutory programs/entities, so.

MTG is only confusing to people who don’t understand the three factions of MAGA. There’s the cynical sociopath faction that want to gut American democracy and wear its skin, the earnest wingnut faction lost in its own navel, and the distracted IRL wing that looks up and votes GOP every four years.

I feel the same way, but I’ve read enough history to resign myself to it. This is a revolutionary time, and such times always spawn gross people who survive and thrive long after it’s over. That’s reality. We should just count our blessings if we can get out of this without a mass bloodletting.

My theory is that she knows how numbered Trump’s days are (whether from age, illness, Epstein, or general unpopularity), and is trying to position herself as the national face of a post-Trump MAGA. Aka she wants the mantle, the movement, and the presidency. No, you do NOT have to hand it to her.

My father, a minister, has a favorite saying with regard to the company you keep: dirt rubs off, clean doesn’t. My twist on this is that you become what you defend. I hope the next generation learns from ours why those ideals matter.

Reprisal mentality by an occupying army. If you shoot 650 of ours, we’ll shoot 1600 of yours. Never mind if any of the targets deserve it — intimidation and the eradication of resistance is the point. I hope I live to see him arraigned on charges that stick.

There's only ever one reason to disassemble one category of barbarity into multiple tiered categories of depravity: so you can come back later and say these categories up here aren't so bad when you think about it, are they?

So gross. I had 15yo girls in my church youth group, and they’re so childlike. I felt so protective. Like, if I found out a grown man was seducing one of my girls, my first instinct would be to make sure no one ever found him. That kind of man doesn’t deserve to breathe. Lower than dirt.

I’ve marked up essays by two homeschooled nephews with extensive notes on e.g. pronoun-antecedent agreement, stuff that supports clarity. I ignore whimsical approaches to grammar that still communicate. They’ll absorb “proper” writing in time by reading. I’m just happy they’re engaged and creative.
