#OTD in 1915, three supposed participants in the “Plan de San Diego” uprising were killed by law enforcement. It is not known whether soldiers, law enforcement, or Texas Rangers were the ones to pull the trigger. /1

On July 23 or 24, 1915, the brothers Lorenzo and Gorgonio Manríquez were killed near Mercedes, Texas, by deputy sheriffs, in a chain of events that unleashed violence across south Texas in late summer and fall of 1915. /1

#OTD on May 3, 1909 Ranger Levi Davis killed Severo Lopez in Rio Grande City. Lopez and several friends had been enjoying a festive dinner when Davis and 2 other Rangers ended the festivities with gunfire. /1

#OTD in 1918, Florencio García was arrested by Texas Rangers Sadler, Sittre, and Lock at a ranch south of Brownsville. He was never seen alive again. A death certificate was issued and the Rangers were charged with murder. /1

In March 1847, in South Texas, a group of Texas Rangers under the direction of Marby “Mustang” Gray murdered the entire adult male population of a village. Supposedly, this was retaliation against “Mexicans” broadly for an attack on a US supply train by the Mexican army. /1

#OTD in 1971 Mexican-origin people in the border city of Pharr endured a police riot, commonly called the Pharr Riots, that resulted in the killing of Alfonso Loredo Flores. To halt the "riot" the city government called in the Texas Rangers, among other police agencies. /1
