Yes, and every other social media website is being taken over by Trump sycophants, most recently TikTok by Larry Ellison. Bluesky is scared of the government and it's resulting in chilling effects.

While Bluesky moderation is awful, it is still better than Xitter and better than most social media out there. On Xitter, "cis" is considered a slur.

I find it very concerning that Bluesky Social has never set up a warrant canary.

I do see indication that Bluesky Social is frightened of the government, but it's very difficult to say how much of the chilling effect comes from direct threats.

It's also who they sell that data too and the politics of their founders. Facebook/Instagram shares investors with Palantir, and both Mark Zuckerberg (CEO) and Peter Thiel (Angel Investor) have both said women have too many rights. Say what you will about Jack, but he picked a woman to lead Bluesky.

I, for one, welcome our new even-toed ungulate overlords.

Bluesky has a higher valuation than The Onion.

This article says they can move at 20mph, but I still don't want autonomous vehicles in bike lanes. These things are usually trained on datasets that ignore cyclists.

Ban all gas leafblowers and lawnmowers. Implement the strictest of noise, safety, and environmental regulation on remaining lawn tools. Ban broad leaf herbicide. Heavily discourage leaf blowing and monoculture lawns.

That's not what enshittification is. There's no way boneheaded moderation creates value for shareholders/investors.

You think there's a non-negligible chance the author is going to travel across the country to murder a clickbait writer for insulting the memory of Johnny Cash? The legacy of Johnny Cash so fragile it can be overturned by a WSJ writer in the eyes of the author, and warrants a death sentence?

If it comes down to a choice between using DeVine Video and continuing to use TikTok or Instagram, I would recommend DeVine every single time. TikTok and Instagram are connected to far worse people doing far worse things with your data.
November 14, 2025 at 2:03 AM
I have to note: any problems you may have with AI or the politics of anyone involved, the problems will be many times worse on any of the big social networks. If it comes down to a choice between DeVine vs TikTok or Instagram, I would pick DeVine every single time.

The developer of DiVine Video seems to be a good-natured person despite Nostr being built by a right-wing conspiracy nut, and their FAQ notes a zero tolerance policy on hate speech and harassment, so I retract my earlier statement about the possibility of phobes:

Upon evaluation, it seems DiVine Video is made by a well-intentioned good-natured person. I believe it to be a more ethical option vs Instagram (funded by Thiel) or TikTok (now owned by horrid people such as Larry Ellison)

I personally will avoid Dorsey/Nostr, but he's less evil than Zuck/Musk/etc.

The fact that Amazon simply just incinerates/dumps merch they can't sell is indication of their gargantuan monstrosity. Flat screen TVs and all their heavy metals leaching everywhere, instead of given to people in need.

Exposed: How Amazon destroys millions of new items it can’t sell
Reporters posing as Amazon workers discovered an area called the ‘destruction zone’ where they covertly filmed staff loading toys, kitchen equipment and TVs into skips.

Dorsey didn't create BlueSky, but had a hand in its creation more than just as an investor. He wanted alternative social media to serve as the foundation of the next generation of Twitter, and picked the leadership to create it.
His reason for leaving was not liking the implementation of moderation

The founder of Nostr (which this is built upon) is very fond of Brazilian fascist conspiracy theorists, so I wouldn't expect the place to be transphobe-free: www.businessinsider.com/jack-dorsey-...
Jack Dorsey gave $10 million to a project run by an anonymous dev — who turned out to be a follower of a fascist 'guru'
Twitter's cofounder Jack Dorsey personally gave $245,000 in crypto to a developer who's a follower and student of a well-known Brazilian fascist.

It's funded by an initiative which is explicitly pro-AI. I suspect that they have an anti-AI stance so that it can serve as a clean dataset for AI to train on, to prevent model collapse. A case of "don't shit where you eat".
I find it a bit amusing that this is funded through andOtherStuff, where one of the Five Pillars is "AI"

Also less amusing is the fact that Nostr is created by a Brazilian with fascist sympathies:
