This is excellent.
Reminder: In light of Bad Bunny's Superbowl performance spotlighting Latino culture, here's a hefty list of Latino speculative fiction authors I curated if anyone wants to take a gander and read some phenomenal work. Much love to all!

Read all of the comments in this incredible thread.
I'd watch a muppet show movie where the muppets infiltrate an academic conference.

We need just 569 more Irish people to sign this official EU citizen initiative to pass our threshold.

If you truly support #JusticeForPalestine and you haven't signed, why not? 🇵🇸🙏

#SpeirGorm #SpeirGhorm #IrishSky #Ireland
Come on Ireland, sign! For these ECIs to work and be considered by the European Commission, 7 EU member states must meet their threshold, for Ireland that's 10,080. We are now at 8,951, 88 8%. No more EU-Israel Agreement for the apartheid state.

Whilst I dislike referring to pets as "furbabies" and calling their owners "moms and dads", it does feel like getting parental leave when you have a new puppy would be an amazing thing.

Not pictured: Haruki Murakami’s wife, or indeed whoever is cooking, cleaning, paying bills, running errands, doing the laundry, answering emails, etc

like yea his routine is goals, but let’s not lie to ourselves about all the invisible work others are doing to enable him to have that routine

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Completely. Minnesota is massively impressive in the solidarity and care they are showing to each other; the organization is so impressive. Minnesota is going to be the blueprint for how we win against these fascist fucks, worldwide.
Just so we're clear, and so a tiny handful of wankers online don't create the wrong impression, the vast majority of your European friends are incredibly impressed by Minnesotans' courage against both the ice and ICE.

Yes it could be argued that keeping up with world events is important but alternatively can I interest you in hugging an ancient mossy boulder that looks like a face and quietly listening while it tells you stories from centuries cloaked in mist.

I volunteered at Marsh's for about a year many many moons ago. It's a wonderful place, with wonderful staff. Giving tours was a real pleasure. If you have the time, do consider.
We are looking for outgoing people to join our team of volunteers. We'd like to hear from you if you can spare one morning or one afternoon per week to welcome visitors to our historic library. Find out more here: marshlibrary.ie/call-for-vol...

In this current increasingly worsening hellscape, I should note that we got a new puppy on Sunday. She's a 4-month old rescue, spirited and very smart, and shares my birthday. The house is now covered in detritus of various sorts.

Good thing: Puppy
Less good thing: I'm very tired

Kinda wild that in the past 2 years I've seen more northern lights in Ireland than in 19 years growing up in Finland.

1) Write to any school a child of yours is in (you can add a link to the gist essay if that’s helpful) and ask the school to close their x account.
2) Irish Rail exclusively use X to provide travel alerts. Email them and ask them to move those alerts to their own app, or Instagram or anywhere else.

Agree with this. I find complaints about the user experience foreign. But I also block and detach on a hair trigger. Anything in my direction that's remotely negative, passive-aggressive or outright hostile is an insta-block. Sometimes I block in advance like a precog. This place is fine.
1. I don’t agree with those who slam the engagement experience here on Bluesky. I can’t speak for others’ experiences, but mine is 98% positive & constructive.
2. A key to that for me is immediately blocking negative, insulting or toxic sources.
3. I don’t like block lists. I make my own judgement.

I like my job well enough that I don't mind going in again after a long break but I could have done without sleeping in and having to go straight out without coffee. I didn't think I even closed my eyes after the alarm went off.
