Next on my list is the latest from NY synth-pop trio @nationoflanguage.bsky.social, just out on @subpop.bsky.social. Strong recommend!

This is not a ranked list, but if it were, Cruel Joke (@rounderrecords.bsky.social) would be #1. More than any other record on this list, these are the songs that have been stuck in my head, that made me stop what I was doing and put the album on so I could hear it again. Very strong recommend!

Amazing jazz record by Leeds saxophonist and composer Jasmine Myra, released in 2024 on @gondwanarecords.com. Strong recommend.

Good day. It's Friday!

It's cold outside and I barely made it out of the house this morning. It's a shame.

Keep trying. Be loud. Keep warm.

How is this record so good? Amazing melodies and songs that just make you feel good, even when they make you feel a little sad. Strong recommend!

I just got their latest record, which is also fantastic.

My 7th recommendation for the year is Hélène Vogelsinger's beautiful synth album Contemplation, from 2020.
Strong recommend!

An incredible record from 1975.

Promises is the remarkable collaboration between Floating Points, the late Pharoah Sanders, and londonsymphony.bsky.social on Luaka Bop from 2021.

Incredible music and very nice album cover. Strong recommend.

This is not a new band for me. I had Violator in high school, and have listened to more of their music over the years, but I didn't ever get around to diving deeper into their catalog and listening more closely until this year.

Many of their albums are great. Strong recommend for this one.

A lot has been written about Cindy Lee's 2+ hour, 32-track, album. I stumbled upon it, knowing nothing about the album or the artist.

I didn't know what to make of it. I still don't know what to think of it. It is haunting and strange and kind of a mess, but utterly listenable.

Strong recommend.

Good morning! It's Friday. And it's cold.

But check out this hot title typography. Damn! It's not sophisticated but it sure is fun.

December 5th is Bandcamp Friday, and this is your reminder that we have some great music to download, stream, or buy on vinyl* or compact disc*.

Give them a listen! They make pretty good gifts.

I almost included this in last year's list.

Caroline is a delightful weirdo and her songwriting is brilliant, but I had trouble connecting with this album at first.

Then I revisited it when I was also listening to a lot of Joni Mitchell and that made this album click for me.

It's time to look back on everything I listened to this past year, and pick the records that made the biggest impression on me.

My first pick this year (in no particular order) is @keelinmusic.bsky.social's beautiful debut on @gondwanarecords.com from 2018.

Happy Thanksgiving Friday to those who celebrate!

Good morning. It is Friday!

Learn your maths and sciences, kids. Somebody's going to have to rebuild this country someday.

Keep trying. Be loud. Don't listen to the bullshit.

Good morning. It's Friday again.

What does it mean to walk like men? How do you walk.

Be loud. Keep trying. Go on a walk.

Good morning. It's Friday!

Just drop off the key, Lee, and get yourself free.

Keep trying. Be loud. Stay warm.

Good morning! It's Friday. And Halloween!

I LOVE these old tomes. They provided inspiration for 2 Kelly Link & @gavingrant.bsky.social anthologies I once designed.

Keep trying. Be loud. Scare the daylights out of the monsters surrounding us right now, then give them candy (it will confuse them).

I could say LAST CHANCE to get these goodies, but: A) You can get these all year round. This is just the last time I'm going to talk about them for now. And B) if you order something today, it won't get to you in time for Halloween anyway. But don't let that stop you. Happy Halloween!

Good morning. It's Friday!

Bring on the ghosts, the witches, the ghouls. They're a welcome relief from all the truly scary things happening every day in this country.

Keep trying.
Be loud.
Take care of yourselves, but don't let the fear hold you back.

Good morning. It's Friday!

Thoughts for today:
1) Reoccurring dream: finding a secret room, or wing, or basement of a house.
2) The House of Dies Drear is a fantastic and beautiful book.
3) Scooby Doo also once investigated a haunted skyscraper.
4) Keep trying. Be loud. Be very very loud.

Good morning. It's Friday!

Increasingly the houses around me in my neighborhood are growing haunted.

Last night I dreamt I was buying a big run-down hotel in a town in economic free-fall with a suitcase full of cash. Everything about it was sketchy.

Keep trying.
Be loud.
Stay warm and stay safe.
