I like some of the recent zoning and building that has happened along Verona Ave. For example, some apartment buildings along the street have businesses at street level and housing on top. This is great for promoting walkability. Parts of Monroe St are a great reference.

I'd like to see Verona--and Dane County as a whole--working to promote alternatives like underground parking or parking garages. There are some interesting cases out there like Carmel, Indiana, which has been offering tax incentives for some years now. youarecurrent.com/2025/04/02/a...

Thanks for sharing this! I firmly believe one of the major pitfalls of cities in the US is having too many surface parking lots. They take up way too much space for the value (e.g. tax revenue, usefulness) they provide. This is especially relevant if you want to make downtown more walkable.

These two ducks were meandering about Lake Wingra yesterday. A third duck follows. It was chased away once it got too close.
