I remember when a big Virginia Woolf fan asked me how I could read and enjoy the writing of Lovecraft, what with his racism and all.
Unfortunately, I didn't know enough about Virginia Woolf at the time to note the hypocrisy (she was ultra racist). No defense of HP but seems other bigots get a pass.
