The real thing to understand is that, for the most part, people don't use words to *convey what they mean*, they use words to *get what they want*. There's no coherent rational principle ideology behind ideas like "free speech" or "cancel culture"
/2 . . . how a huge segment of the “free speech activist” culture is just absolutely pathologically oversensitive to criticism and dissent and how much of the “we hate cancel culture” culture is consumed with telling people to shut up.

I have managed to never hear this song or follow much of the discourse so I can't speak to his sincerity here but I will say it's inherently interesting for someone to get adopted by the conservative machine and then push back instead of going all in. Trying to remember the last time that happened.
