The Infrastructure and Jobs Act allocated a lot of funding to majority PoC neighborhoods in the Boston metro area. We usually don't get these investments in infrastructure. I can't overstate how life-changing it all was, and how it helped save Boston's crumbling public transit.

My point is not: The US is less racist.

It is also not: France is more racist.

My big takeaway is racism in the US is just... transparent. It's easy to see, because of the legacy of slavery and Black people in this country, the racism is loud.

What do I mean?

It is very easy to look at the US and point to the reams of data about racial disparities.

I'm a Black woman. I get it.

And then you go to France and hear a French person tell you racism is not a problem there.

How would they know?

France doesn't track racial data.
