I would say that it's more that Pathfinder's complexity and choices are more evenly distributed. For instance martial characters actually get to make decisions about their class abilities on a regular basis, not just casters.

People think PF2 has too many rules but most of the player-facing rulebook is build options for the classes. Once you choose a class, you have a much more manageable length of text to parse.

I agree that that episode wasn't great, but I think the worst episode is the one where Voyager acts as a prison transport and the inmate Neelix takes pity on because his people are disproportionately incarcerated turns out to just be a murderous psychopath.
