We have a FYS. It was created very intentionally. It can still be tough to get all students to commit to taking it seriously. I agree: They need the pointers you have described. But if it 1cr/0cr, or if it feels like busy work, students check out.

Hm. So, Z = (number of times phrase was used in a year, X) - (Average number of times the phrase was used in any year, M)/SD of number of times the phrase was used in any year?
