100%. Sadly given Newsom’s abysmal track record on trans rights, I don’t give him the benefit of the doubt that he was just sloppy in his language. I think he means to throw the people he deems not “normal” right under the bus.

I read it once when I was 15-ish and I thought it was awful. Read it again in college and it hit way different, much more emotionally complicated. Time to read again, I think?
