The point is that you can build things on shitty ground. The engineering is not a problem for Macquarie Point.

The cost is too high. Construction costs in Australia are outrageous. But the engineering is not an issue.

The Planning Commission (and others) don't like the aesthetic. But that is entirely subjective. The location is perfect. Macquarie Point is currently an embarrassment to the state. And if all Government spending has to show a profit we'd never build another hospital or arts centre.
