I enjoy exploring alien planets in #Metroid, delving into dungeons in The Legend of #Zelda, and unlocking support conversations in #FireEmblem. Beyond that, I love chatting about anime, movies, and video games.
I saw Nia DaCosta’s The Bone Temple last night! It’s a brutal, absurdist follow-up to Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later. The imagery suffers from diminishing returns due to the reused setting, but the nuanced performances and sharp script make it a compelling film in its own right.
A ★★★★ review of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026)
28 Years Later was one of my favorite films of last year. Danny Boyle’s powerful images stayed with me long after I left the theater. The Bone Temple, directed by Nia DaCosta, takes place immediately ...

Nintendo’s breakdown of my most-played games over the past nine years gives a pretty clear picture of my tastes as a player. That Hollow Knight is the only Metroidvania listed might come as a surprise, but that’s because most games in the genre are relatively short.

Over the weekend, I finally reached the point in Donkey Kong Bananza where I gained access to DK Island. As someone who has been a Donkey Kong fan since the Game Boy and SNES days, experiencing the iconic island both in full 3D and in crisp HD feels almost surreal.

Path of Radiance is one of my favorite Fire Emblem games. I’m excited that a new generation of fans can now experience this classic. Here’s hoping Wii titles are added to Nintendo Classics soon because anyone who enjoys Path of Radiance should also play its sequel, Radiant Dawn.
GameCube game Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance has just dropped on Nintendo Switch 2

One thing that never fails to put a smile on my face in Xenoblade Chronicles X is the banter between Lin and Tatsu. Their constant back-and-forth adds a lot of charm and levity to the game.

The game I want to spend the most time with this January is Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. The Wii U original is one of my favorite RPGs, but its cliffhanger ending left me wanting more. I hope the new content wraps up the story in a more satisfying way.

By my standards, I watched very few anime series and films in 2025. My highlight of the year was getting to experience Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc on the big screen. I find it very exciting that more and more anime movies are receiving theatrical releases in the West.

Despite the release of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, I landed on Mario Kart World as my game of the year for 2025. The Free Roam mode feels tailor-made for me. Even after over 100 hours, I keep booting it up to do P Switch missions, hunt for Peach Medallions, or enjoy the great music.

Happy New Year! I thought it would be fun to come up with a few gaming resolutions for 2026. One goal is to engage more deeply with games instead of moving on as soon as the credits roll. I’d also like to give more indie titles a chance and be open to a wider range of genres.
