The Norwegian games expo (SpillExpo) has been an absolute joy. We’re so happy with the reception of our game Sacred Gems!

Some parents had to physically drag some of their kids away. My heart broke a little when one of them asked if he could get it for Christmas bc it’s not out yet 🥺

That's so satisfying, I can hear the #sounddesign even if there is none so I just had to create it

We put together some footage from our initial meeting with voice talents for the game Panta Rhei, where our narrative designer/CEO and the talent discuss their character.

This one is with @ginaleighsmith.bsky.social, who gave our main character a voice and greatly improved their personality.

Panta Rhei by @reignitegames.bsky.social is releasing this week!! It's absolutely bonkers to see how this game has changed in less than a year. Doing sound, music, and audio implementing for this game has been a pleasure.

Steam if anyone want to check it out: store.steampowered.com/app/1730550/...

Game Audio in Norway is currently hosting a series of lectures on Dolby Atmos.

It’s been really insightful, all from making creative mix decisions to building an Atmos certified studio.

When consumers start expecting Atmos in their games, there is no going back.

We’ve been expanding our sound library lately and released some pent-up aggression at the same time! #sounddesign #gameaudio #gamedev

Is anyone here doing the #LD57 game jam? Looking for someone to collab with!

Try something with variable pitch, like this. It gives the sound a bit of personality.

Sound design is interesting for many reasons. I went to a hardware store and asked one of the employees if they had any chains, to which he asked “what for?”

He looked slightly bewildered when I said I needed its sounds.

I recently discovered @bardictools.bsky.social, and I like how it allows me to put together my own soundscapes. Trying it out while DMing my next D&D Tabletop Session!

From my current #d&d campaign (left to right): Cleaver, BAAB, and Crow, a Warforged trio serving as guides to my players. Guess who the tavern keep is.

Micro Book Review: Ruination

+ A great blend of mystery, character drama, action, and romance
+ Character motivations are clear from the start
- Took some time to care for the characters
- A pretty big assumption led to the main conflict
- A single use of the word 'spun' during a fight

7/10

Pixalon Devlog 1:

I've made a main character, and they can now move around! To explain my complicated process, I made a speed-painting video.

There was some trial and error, but I settled on the colour grey. My character is really similar to Link, because anyone will be able to identify with them.

In 2021 I co-founded Game Audio In Norway, an interest organization for game audio professionals that also organize a Game Audio Conference Oslo.

I gave a talk there in 2022, and have since spoken at both #gamesoundcon and #mediasoundhamburg

In parallel with these endeavours, I've also run my own company called Nordic Scoring, who have been involved in a handful of game projects and made a sound library for Soundly.

Our ultimate goal is to create and stimulate jobs for musicians and artists. I hope some of you will support that goal.

As game jams got more crowded, and my interest in technology increased, I started signing up as a programmer more often than not.

My first time jamming as the sole Unity Dev was at MiT in 2018, and I've barely touched audio during jams since then, besides for mentoring or giving presentations.

I met two brothers who ran a mobile game dev studio just outside of Boston, and for some time I traded my music and sound design skills for help with programming.

I managed to land a gig as a Unity/C# developer some years later, something they definitely laid the groundwork for.

Having a good grasp on music theory, I decided music tech was better worth my time at Berklee, where I did my undergrad. That didn't stop me from assembling an orchestra with some great musicians.

Shoutout to Anthony Sabatino, Lori Syngajewski, Megan Neal, Ismael Sandoval, and Jaman E. Dunn.

I attended my first game jam around this time, in 2013. I was the only audio person at the time. Last year, I celebrated 10 years of jamming, which is absolutely insane to me...

By doing a music track in high school I got a teacher who was deep into prog rock and jazz, did a small tour around the country and ended up playing in Budapest one time.

I think I should do a mentor appreciation post at some point.

Like any Norwegian musician, I got started playing Metalcore in my teens (guess who is me).

Core memory: the largest venue we played was Rockefeller in Oslo, and the mosh pit was insane. The audience did a wall of death at some point. First and last time I experienced it while on stage.
