After 33 years with linux I can confirm the tinkering but not at all the learning. I don‘t even know what to say about that „control“ part 🙃 Let‘s put linux as a religion of long outdated and inapropriate system design. Then it makes all sense.

It was wrong because it is indeed a waste of time. Linux is a wonder, where in the world can you spend that huge amount of time without achieving something?

Very interesting. Sadly in the „discussion“ there is no information about the history of licenses for the project. It sounds a bit as if it was MIT at the beginning and the changed

In pharo smalltalk we have automatic deprecation rewriting since many years. Legacy code is replaced with rules what to rewrite. When running the tests this call will instruct the refactoring engine to rewrite all users of that method. So it is basically checkout, run tests, commit to upgrade
