When I recently completed my education MS specialising in andragogy, the main takeaway was to give students the most efficient path to their goal. On one hand I can empathise but on the other hand it convinced me that I probably wouldn’t even last one year as a tertiary teacher in today’s society.

When I was a TAFE teacher in the mid 2000s, the percentage of students actually wanting to learn and be engaged was anecdotally much higher than it appears to be now. It was more than just one or two students per class. I know it’s been trending away for years, but I am still so exasperated about it

I remember when I completed my pentesting class in my degree a couple of years back, with a high exam score. I was asked by peers how I achieved that and I told them that I studied all of the material making sure to learn it all, and then tried out almost every tool mentioned. Crickets in response.

it was Pedla this time (picking up club kit) but a while ago I had to talk my way into getting the guy at MAAP to treat me a little more warmly. Mentioned I was about to do the GVBR and was picking up last minute thermals for it. He then thawed out a bit. Their gear is fab so agreed a shame.

THIS. Like they can barely bring themselves to interact. yeah female staff are still hit and miss for me but generally better for sure. And they’re much more likely to say gm back when we encounter each other on the road

I do think it’s the same for me! I wear earplugs a lot as well as it helps keep my energy being worn down too early
