Busy bees sipping pure lavender vibes

Early morning sunlight falling onto the lavender hedge in my back-yard. A lone been venturing into the patch that will eventually be 'swarming' with bees later as the day heats up.

Nature is not always pretty.
A red wattle bird attacks an Australian Magpie that has taken one of it's babies.
(sorry about the low quality, I had to snap it quickly)

This densely populated thicket of blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) caught my eye and reminded me of a painting by Jackson Pollock titled "Blue Poles".

I like the abstract nature of the image.

I was out in the Grampians last week and noticed a distinct lack of lizards and snakes due to the cold change. All it took was one warm afternoon and they magically appeared from everywhere!

This shingleback lizard really wasn't cold, he was almost zippy

Gordon & Douglas persuaded me to take them for a walk along the river - I'm so glad that they did.

One little duck went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said, "Quack, quack, quack, quack"
...

Spotted this little chap all on his own in the forest. I'll give him credit, he could paddle pretty quickly. I hope he beats the odds.

Freeloaders making the most of springtime green grasses

For those outside Australia, it is pronounced "Eem-you", not ee-moo.

Aboriginal language is spoken, not written, so it's irrelevant how it is written down, it's all about how it is pronounced.

Spring is in the air and a young snake's mind turns to love.

Two male Eastern Brown Snakes wrestling to impress lady snake.

These guys are rated as the second most toxic of all snake venoms in the world.
