Lilly Their record of insulin price-fixing, bribery scandals, and a history of lobbying against affordable healthcare speaks for itself. They’re pro-Israel, too. Nike Nike’s empire was built on sweatshop labor, and its anti-union tactics show little has changed. Add in its massive environmental footprint and cozying up with Israel, and Nike fits right into the Olympic ecosystem—a global operation running on exploitation disguised as inspiration. Ralph Lauren Behind the starched, white-supremecist-ass aesthetic (unsurprisingly) lies a murky supply chain rife with labor abuse. Perfect for the opening ceremony of the world’s biggest PR event. Uber Uber’s model depends on underpaid, unprotected workers, and the company’s recent partnerships with surveillance giants like Palantir and NVIDIA only deepen its commitment to data extraction and worker control. “Official” Supporter Archer Aviation The official air taxi provider for the Games, partnered with predictive surveillance behemoth Palantir, Archer was allowed to buy the entire Hawthorne Airport and intends to use it as a “testbed for AI-powered” ground and air operations. Rich tourists can isolate themselves from “undesirables” while the cameras on their helicopters surveil residents who can’t afford to attend the games. Fair Games LA and the Starbucks Workers Union recently posted that Starbucks hasn’t “earned the privilege” of being an Olympic sponsor, given the company’s well-documented union-busting practices. It’s clear to us that they align perfectly
TCL The company’s smart TVs have been flagged for privacy and security vulnerabilities, with reports of data collection practices that turn your living room into a surveillance zone. Even worse, TCL has been linked to forced labor in its supply chain and accused of deceptive advertising meant to gloss over these abuses. In short, TCL profits from both surveillance capitalism and worker exploitation — two industries the Olympics know all too well. P&G In 2025, P&G was sued for greenwashing over deforestation linked to its toilet paper production. The company was accused of obtaining their wood pulp from the Canadian boreal forest, one of the world’s most important biological ecosystems, through harmful logging practices such as clear cutting and burning – behavior completely at odds with their “Keep Forests Forests” slogan. It only makes sense that they’d link with the Olympics, another brand comfortable with contradictory messaging and actions. Founding Partners: Delta Delta has spent millions fighting its own workers’ right to organize. This year, it tried to block a minimum wage increase in Los Angeles and failed. Now it’s using Olympic sponsorship to polish its anti-worker image. Google Remember “Don’t be evil?” —neither does Google. The company has partnered with Israel’s military technology sector and collaborates with surveillance firms like Palantir, all while collecting unprecedented amounts of user data worldwide. Honda In June 2024, the U.S. National Labor Relations Board accused Honda of illegal union-busting at its Indiana plant. The company’s hostility toward organized labor mirrors the broader Olympic trend of suppressing worker voices while celebrating “The Power of Dreams.” Starbucks Starbucks’ workers are leading one of the most visible union drives in the country, and the company’s been relentlessly union-busting in response. Despite its public image of progressivism, the company has fired organizers, shuttered unionized stores, and fought collective bargaining every step of the way. Employees even launched a campaign to drop the company’s Olympic sponsorship. In case it’s not clear by this point, the Olympics and Starbucks share the same playbook: sell community, crush organizing. “Official” Sponsors AECOM The company helped build Tokyo’s stadium, a project that displaced residents and reshaped neighborhoods for the sake of a global photo op. Now it’s helping shape LA28’s infrastructure, continuing the cycle of “revitalization” that almost always means removing the people who already live there. Cisco Cisco calls itself a company that “connects the world” – unfortunately it does so through collaborating with ICE and supplying tech to the Israeli government for surveillance and control.

Let’s take a look at some of the corporations proudly carrying the torch of hypocrisy, hoping to use the Olympic spotlight to sportwash their public image. Who corrupted who?
Airbnb Airbnb is the perfect accomplice for the Olympic legacy of gentrification and displacement. Short-term rentals have massively fueled the housing crises from Tokyo to Paris to Los Angeles, driving rents up and pushing out long-term residents. The only way to make LA a habitable place is to expel Airbnb and the IOC. Read our analysis in full here! And yes, Airbnb is on the BDS boycott list too. Alibaba Alibaba’s founder, billionaire Jack Ma, famously called his company’s “996” work schedule (9 a.m. to 9 p.m, six days a week) a “huge blessing.” For workers, this blessing leads to burnout, exploitation, and even suicide. As an official Olympic sponsor, Alibaba fits right in with the Games’ own culture of overwork and underpay. Allianz In 2022, Allianz Global Investors pled guilty to a massive scheme that defrauded pension funds for teachers, bus drivers, and working-class retirees, paying over $6 billion in penalties and restitution. It’s fitting that a company that preyed on the retirement savings of public-sector workers is now underwriting the Olympics: an event that guts public services and drains city budgets at every turn. Deloitte This consulting firm’s alleged goal is to help governments and corporations “do the right thing.” But in October 2025, Deloitte’s Australian arm had to issue a $290,000 refund to the Australian government after its much-hyped AI technology was caught “hallucinating” false information in official government reports. Other Deloitte clients include Monsanto, Boeing, and, for some reason, the St. Louis Archdiocese of the Catholic Church. Deloitte remains a “Worldwide Olympic Partner” through all their wrongdoing, helping to shape an event that’s been ~hallucinating~ its own i Coca-Cola The Coca-Cola logo has been plastered across Olympic podiums for nearly a century, using brand nostalgia to distract from its record of union-busting, environmental harm, and complicity in global human-rights abuses. Also on the BDS list! Samsung Samsung’s Olympic ads show sleek gadgets and elite athletes, but off-screen, the company faces accusations of labor abuse, child labor, and unsafe working conditions across its supply chain. Investigations have revealed exploitative factories, unethical marketing, and even bribery scandals involving top executives. Michelob Ultra Michelob’s parent company, AB InBev, has a long and ugly record with Teamsters labor disputes, wage theft, and greenwashed marketing. Their “sweat responsibly” ads celebrate athleticism while the company’s own workers have to fight for living wages. It’s the perfect metaphor for the Olympics, where working people do the labor, and corporations take the glory. Visa Visa is the Olympics’ exclusive payment partner– a deal that perfectly fits the brand’s history of monopolistic behavior. The U.S. Justice Department sued Visa in 2024 for monopolizing debit markets, accusing it of crushing competition to maintain dominance.

Pretending that a “no harm” version of the Olympics is possible is not only extremely naive.

It’s dangerous for what happens to us after 2028.

With global bids dwindling, the Olympic machine is now circling back to former host cities faster than ever.
THE FOREVER GAMES Historically, the Olympics would wait a generation or two — enough time for the cultural memory of harm to fade — before attempting to return to a prospective host city. But with global bids dwindling, the Olympic machine is now circling back faster than ever. After Tokyo 2020, Japan immediately floated a 2030 bid for Sapporo. Over the past decade, as Olympic popularity among potential host cities has nosedived, many pundits and boosters have suggested that the problem with the Olympics is the existing rotating city model. They’ve gone on to suggest that Los Angeles could be one of — or the sole — permanent home for the Games. If LA28 is successful in whitewashing the harm that comes with them (their board members and boosters control a huge chunk of international and local media, after all), we will be setting ourselves up for a never-ending barrage of mega-events, and that’s a reality this extremely fragile city cannot bear. For the LA Sports and Entertainment Council, which Wasserman funds, the Forever Games is literally the plan. The LASEC “is dedicated to hosting the world’s leading sports and entertainment events in Los Angeles that drive lasting social and economic impact in our communities.” Image: casey wasserman's ugly ass face looking confused in front of LA28's logo When Casey takes off his LASEC hat and puts on his LA28 hat, the social and economic impact of hosting an event that invites federal immigration authorities and supercharges gentrification and displacement suddenly becomes unrelated to hosting mega-events. Homelessness is “not LA28s problem to solve… [It’s] everybody’s problem to solve”. If the LASEC gets their way, LA will be hosting mega-events every year, inviting ICE to terrorize Angelenos permanently.

The IOC does whatever it wants, remaining unaccountable in the lead up to and delivery of the Games. Once the Games are over, there is nothing to compel them, or local officials, to follow through on anything they promised. FAILED REFORM OF ATHLETE ABUSE One clear example of this is SafeSport, a compromised oversight body created to supposedly curb rampant sexual abuse of Olympic athletes. By any objective measure SafeSport has consistently failed in its stated mission, and the Olympics remain unaccountable and opaque as ever.

The story remains the same on every continent. Corruption, pollution, false promises, and ballooning budgets.
RIO 2016 Famously polluted Gaunabara Baywould has not been detoxified after officials promised it would be by 2016. A year after the Games, Olympic organizers promised, as they always do, to stay on budget. In 2017, Business Insider reported that “The Rio Olympics were a financial disaster and it keeps getting worse”. Tokyo “2020” Tokyo parks saw increased policing and closed shop frontages lined up one after another, victims of rising property prices and rents. The Games went severely over budget to the tune of tens of billions of dollars, pandemic notwithstanding. They also featured a wide-sweeping bribery scandal. Tokyo “2020” Olympic boosters capitalized on the immediate aftermath of Tokyo 2020 to push for an Olympic bid in Sapporo for 2030. That bid was ultimately defeated by the Olympic resistance movement, but only insofar as it’s being pushed back for a later date, 2034 or perhaps 2038 if necessary. The IOC is setting its sights on Japan, with the rationale that if you can get away with it once, why not again and again? LA faces the same dilemma. LA 2028 LA’s own bid was sold as a “No Build” Olympics — an alleged Olympic reform, and the city is now in the midst of negotiating how many regulations can be elided for 2028 Olympic building projects. The LA28 bid was promised to be “car-free” — another alleged reform — which has now been downgraded to “transit first” and will feature an official provider of chartered helicopters.

This is the Forever Games, or a permanent state of mega-event hosting in our city. Several former host leaders, reeling from the disastrous effects of the Olympics visiting their communities, have spoken in favor of this idea. In Los Angeles, the Forever Games is being championed by Olympic chair Casey Wasserman and his LA Sports and Entertainment Council. In tandem, local developers are setting their sights beyond new stadium and venue construction—plotting instead to develop large-scale “entertainment districts” that will more rapidly gentrify already-vulnerable communities Let’s take a look at the past few Summer Games: LONDON 2012 Homelessness increased 122% in the years immediately following the London 2012 Olympics. NOlympics LA started as a DSA-LA working group. This year, they decided to make their bed with Unite Here’s reformist platform.

Our position is that the Olympics cannot be reformed. Efforts to do so elsewhere have consistently failed. There is no “good” way to host the Olympics.

With these development projects, Inglewood, like so many other cities, is once again putting the interests of real-estate, tourists, and the wealthy before its working-class residents. It’s been rechristened Stadium View Apartments by a new owner, who attempted to displace longtime residents to charge higher rates. The Flower Drive Tenants Association has been fighting Olympic displacement for years.
Flower Drive Tenants Association There used to be two blocks of residents across from the LA Memorial Coliseum on Flower Drive. The 3900 block was bought by Ventus Group in 2019 with plans to build “Exposition Point” (formerly “The Fig”), a large complex containing 252 hotel rooms, 252 student housing units, 78 mixed-income apartments, retail, and office space. It anchors Ventus Group’s assemblage of a total of 7.8 acres of land into mixed-use development projects. Although the eight fourplexes of the 3900 block provided rent-stabilized homes for 32 families and the buildings were registered as a historic district, in 2019 LA’s City Council approved a plan that would allow Ventus Group to demolish them all. Some residents took $50,000 cash for keys offers that didn’t help them find permanent housing, as rents are so high in Los Angeles that the money only helped them get so far. After Ventus Group purchased the 3800 block, the firm targeted the block with an intense cash-for-keys program as well. They didn’t want to see what happened to their neighbors happen to them, and they fought back. On March 2021, they joined the Los Angeles Tenants Union and formed the Flower Drive Tenants Association. They organized weekly bilingual meetings for neighbors and community members to share information, articulate demands, and strengthen their resolve to fight. From these gatherings, members decided early on to reject Ventus Group’s cash-for-keys offers. Since its formation, Flower Drive Tenants Association members have used their meetings to support each other on subsequent issues, such as establishing terms for film and food truck companies working next to their homes, and providing guidance on how to address management’s suite of harassment tactics. FDTA and NOlympics LA will continue to work together to oppose Olympic development as we march closer to the 2028 games.

Hosting a mega event every few years means living under a permanent NSSE, inviting the Secret Service to make their Olympic Office (open now) permanent.

Angelenos don't want a permanent version of the last week, but local leaders are deadset on collaborating with Trump fascism.

Trump will make every sporting event a National Special Security Event, enabling ICE, CBP, the Secret Service & the entire DHS to terrorize the residents and visitors of the host cities.

Supposed "Sanctuary cities" will require new policies to actually protect residents.
