In... like 1993, the cast of Star Trek: TNG was somewhat amazingly touring a production of Tom Stoppard's EGBDF, a play that has a full orchestra on stage. Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiner were the leads, Patrick Stewart directed and acted. I saw it, and I think about it all the time.

I was very into GEB and _Metamagical Themas_ (his column collection) for a while.

Shortly after I read it, I got in an argument with a friend over whether an AI computer could make mistakes. My position was "of course", the other person insisted that it'd be like a big calculator and always be correct.

About once a month, I wonder if the other person remembers this...

Ryan North's current run on Fantastic Four is a great modern take on silver age high concept super hero silliness, which I say with nothing but admiration. (Also, his Squirrel Girl run is probably my favorite super hero run of the last decade or do..)
