Spending time outside helps me cope with the impending apocalypse. 🪶

People often describe The Conspiracists as unsettling & ask if there’s any hope in it. Tammy, featured in the book, is reading it now. She told me it’s making her think about some things & that she hopes it helps people better understand people like her.

I feel more hopeful than I have in awhile.

The audiobook of The Conspiracists is out today, beautifully narrated by Rachel Yong. Listening to your own book read aloud is surreal and surprisingly fun. #NewBook #AudioBook #NonFiction #booksky

Honestly, no better hype person than your mother.
Thank you, @vromansbookstore.bsky.social — you made her day.

I’ll be there Tuesday, January 6 at 7 PM for a conversation with Mike Rothschild about The Conspiracists: Women, Extremism, and the Lure of Belonging.

Trump’s dominance is weakening. His coalition is fracturing. Greene is repositioning accordingly while keeping the ideology intact. That is not reform. It is adaptation.

And the enemy of your enemy can still be your enemy—especially when they tell you, plainly, that nothing about them has changed.

She does not embrace pluralism as a democratic premise. She frames it as an obstacle to overcome. What has changed is not her worldview. What has changed is the political environment. 8/9

She also continues to rely on conspiracy as political explanation. From anti-vaccine disinformation and chemtrails to claims that Democrats attempted to assassinate Trump. 7/9
January 1, 2026 at 1:14 AM
Greene continues to frame trans people as dangerous or mentally ill and supports criminalizing gender-affirming healthcare nationwide. She describes abortion not as a contested moral issue but as Satanic, casting women’s autonomy as corruption rather than choice. 6/9

Those are not the statements of someone undergoing ethical reconsideration. They are assertions of continuity. And that continuity is visible across her positions. 5/9
January 1, 2026 at 1:14 AM
In her own words, nothing about her belief system has changed. She emphasizes her near-perfect voting alignment with Trump, her 100% conservative rating, and her commitment to what she calls “unapologetically America First” politics. 4/9

Specifically, Trump attacked Greene for supporting the release of Epstein-related files. That attack triggered harassment and death threats against her family.

Not before. Not when others were targeted. Not when she helped normalize this climate. 3/9
January 1, 2026 at 1:14 AM
Greene did not abandon her ideology. She abandoned Trump only once loyalty became personally dangerous to her. This was not reflection or remorse. It was retaliation after Trump turned on her. 2/9

There is a familiar mistake people make whenever a prominent extremist publicly breaks with Donald Trump. Relief. Curiosity. Sometimes even hope. Is this accountability? Growth? Someone finally becoming “reasonable”?

In the case of Marjorie Taylor Greene, the answer is no.

We miss our girl in that aching kind of way. Our house has never felt more empty. Grateful for the 12 years of joy she brought to our lives.

It’s devastating. We lost our beloved Labrador two nights ago. The little is still hanging on and was here to spend Christmas with us ❤️

I will miss these smiling faces more than I can express. These dogs have brought so much joy into my life.

They were each given a terminal diagnosis this month, and we’re days from the end for both. It’s absolutely devastating. It’s also a very clear reminder that nothing is guaranteed beyond right now. 💔

I remember the first time Indivisible volunteers went to DC to defend the ACA. Elected officials locked their doors and refused to accept letters from constituents. So @terrybouton.bsky.social got creative.

I’ve recently discovered that public libraries across the country are already carrying TheConspiracistsFilm.com. If your library doesn’t have it yet, you can request that they order it. Seattle Public Library is one example, where the film is available and the companion book is already on order.

The book draws from four years of research and lived relationships; the film offers a visual counterpart to that work. Used together, they give readers and viewers a clearer sense of how belonging, belief, and extremism intersect, useful for book clubs, classrooms, and discussion groups.
