It is, yeah! Using SDL with a small C# wrapper over it

(it's literally just lerping the rgb values to a color - i don't know how lighting is actually supposed to work lol)

he's our mayor haha

yeah some days are just like that!

yeah, right now I'm using Trenchbroom which is kind of like a 3d tile editor? It lets you make blocks and then select textures to display on them.

yeah, just using SDL_GPU with my own C# framework on top.

currently using Trenchbroom for level editing!

terrain textures are from screamingbrainstudios.itch.io/tiny-texture... until I make my own eventually!

yeah, all the art tools I use work on it but I know a lot of more professional tools are often windows only (looking at adobe lol)

I've been using Fedora basically the entire time - I like it because it's pretty lean and updates to latest versions of stuff very fast.

yeah I was surprised by this too - my controllers have all been USB-C for a while now...

I haven't seen that, that's pretty awesome haha

but also I'm not comparing it to the Switch, which is definitely always going to be a smoother experience - I'm comparing it to being able to stop using Windows.

Huh, sure. I'm just speaking from my experience - so far I haven't had anything I've wanted to play not "just run" - maybe I'm just lucky.

I still do linux builds because I (intend to) release stuff on itch, but it's easy for me since I already work entirely on linux haha
November 12, 2025 at 8:30 PM
as a programmer though - I have had zero issues switching (and being on unix is generally nicer, tbh)
November 12, 2025 at 8:25 PM
it depends - all the tools I use are generally open source and have good portability (vscode, blender, aseprite, etc). but I know there are various artist tools that make switching harder (adobe, audio software, etc).
