I’ve also worked for a startup (run by an idiot CEO) that failed in 2.5 yrs after wasting many millions of venture capital.

Truth be told, most corporate accountants take pride in following accounting rules. It’s the rules that are totally corrupt.
As an individual you make a bad financial decision - that’s your problem. As a corporation you can take your bad decision as tax deductions for as long as 20 years.
