We know our students. Questions, Answers, Discussions fly back and forth all day long. We are in the room with them. We see how they grow in understanding. That's real assessment. @mrobmsu.bsky.social

First it's pretests, then it's practice tests, then it's teaching to the tests, then the actual tests that we never see the results of until the kids are in the next grade. By then we have it's a new group of kids in front of us with different needs It's nuts.

Something is seriously wrong when ICE can barge into a daycare center with guns drawn to drag out a teacher. The ICE agents did not have a warrant and the teacher is a legal immigrant, but did they care? No, they didn't. But the preschoolers will care, they will be traumatized for life.

If we "flooded poor schools with art, music, librarians, social workers, counselors, play, and project-based learning" you'd see test scores soar. And have happier and more enthusiastic students, too. @readdoctor.bsky.social
