Our pilgrimage is not just about walking across land.
It is about walking toward a different way of being:
one that honors Earth,
one that protects human dignity,
one that tells the truth about responsibility and mutuality,
and one that refuses to weaponize lives and exacerbate suffering.

Day 15 of 26. We are on the other side of the most remote stretch of this pilgrimage. Our days walking toward the endless horizons of this vast landscape brought us some of the deepest quiet and prayers of this action.

We are well into this more remote stretch now and have crossed our 100 mile mark! I (Clara) walked solo for the last 10 miles of our hike on Tuesday and saw our first Juniper tree of the entire trek! It's been very peaceful out here under the new moon, horizon stretching in all directions.

"I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant." Dr. MLK.

Our prayer as we walk is that we weave ourselves into the “garment of mutuality” with all our kin on this sacred earth.

After walking 80 miles over the last six days, Desiree and I were grateful to rest our feet in Roswell yesterday. At a local coffee shop, we were reminded of the catastrophic flooding that occurred in Roswell in 2024, when half the annual rainfall of the area was delivered in a single storm.

Day 6: 80 miles down! 🥾 Tonight in Roswell, we broke bread with Episcopal leaders, shared our climate work, and found genuine partners for the road ahead. Tomorrow: rest day!

On our 4th day, we headed north past cows and cotton fields. We reflected on conversations we had at a community dinner in Artesia about oil & gas impacts—air pollution, "produced water" as hazardous waste, and legislators who won't listen.

🌍 Walking Through the Heart of Extraction
Days 2 & 3 of our pilgrimage took us through dense oil & gas development — miles of industrial infrastructure that made the connection between our bodies and the earth's body impossible to ignore.
