The sultan’s men (and some of the provincial notables) wore the same type of fez in the 1830s (Excluding the ‘ulama).

I think Mahmudi(ye) was the best-looking, though its use seems to have disappeared as soon the sultan died.

I’ve seen Barry Lyndon and it’s still my all-time favourite. Will watch Eyes Wide Shut tomorrow actually :-)
